Welcome Message from AUA President

Dear friends and colleagues Bari galust to Armenia! It is our pleasure to welcome you to Armenia and to AUA.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are delighted to announce the upcoming International Conference on Nonextensive Statistical Physics to be held at the American University of Armenia (AUA), Yerevan, Armenia, from August 25 to 29, 2025, in honor of the 82nd birthday of Professor Constantino Tsallis. This conference will highlight his exceptional contributions to the field, his mentorship of a generation of statistical physicists, and his enduring dedication to advancing the boundaries of scientific knowledge.

This conference promises to provide a vibrant platform for meaningful dialogue among leading scholars and researchers in statistical physics from around the globe, with emphasis on nonextensive statistical mechanics. This is a generalization of Boltzmann-Gibbs statistical mechanics obtained by negating the postulate of additivity of the entropy, in the same sense that non-Euclidean geometry is an extension of Euclidean geometry obtained by negating Euclid’s Parallel Postulate.  In both cases, the validity of some theorems survive this generalization while others need to be modified, and in both cases those modifications may have physical applications.  A comprehensive bibliography of publications on this subject can be found here.

You will have the unique opportunity to share insights and foster collaborations, as well as explore the rich culture and history of Armenia through organized tours and excursions.

The organizers of this event are:

  • Bruce Boghosian, American University of Armenia, Armenia
  • Deniz Eroglu, Imperial College London, United Kingdom
  • Ernesto P. Borges, Federal University of Bahia, Brazil
  • Ugur Tirnakli, Izmir University of Economics, Turkiye

We look forward to welcoming you to Armenia for this exciting and meaningful celebration of Constantino’s contributions to science and collaboration.

Bruce Boghosian
